Carenza’s crew were ordered to do a survey check of the Kylata system to verify the class of the trinary stars and any planets in the system along with the nearby Trialus – aka Meridian – system. Although this planet encountered by the Defiant in 2371 was not due to return to normal space until 2431 – 60 year cycle; the long range sensors at Rivendell had detected some unusual activity, in the last known position of Meridian. Thus Admiral West felt it would be good for the ship’s scientist and the crew as a whole to work together and get to know one another whilst working as a team in what should be a standard routine mission. ‘What is ever a ‘standard routine’ in Starfleet?’ was Carenza’s Captain’s immediate thought at her commanding officers words.
