Jueta was ok with the engines qualification run up. No self respecting engineer would keep the engines at 98%. She was sure that Pariah would use his magic to bring that as close to 100 as possible. She had a number of software tricks she would incorporate after the launch.

"Everything is green I have control of the matrix, Plasma flow is in acceptable range." "How is the coolent Pariah!!" she yelled over everyone and the core. The core pulsing was rythmic and looked wonderful she felt the life within that core, the heart beat of the mighty ship.

As everyone watched Jueta moved the controls increasing fuel rate 4 %. the core reacted immediately the pulse quickening she move back and forth six times until she reached 80% open at the fuel gate. It showed no signs of sticking or surging.
"Pariah make a note to smooth the responce time in the fuel regulator I'm getting lag in my instrumentation."

The fusion reactor tie in was working properly, instrumentation working as built. All power was being directed to the containment systems, the magnetics silently containing the powerful reaction within. The ships 8 reactors were aligned but could be tightened. "Captain do you want to power the shield generators and phaser relays."

As soon as she had given the order, men and women in the trusted Starfleet uniform and also in the new uniform, depicting permanent Callisto crew, worked like madness to get the engines and power cores up and running. It didn't take them long to initiate the anti-matter flow, slowly but steadily entering the reaction chamber which caused the primary antimatter conduits to start pulsating. The typical sound of a Starfleet issue warp core sounded good to her, though she was no engineering with the experience to make that judgment.

Loud applauding and cheering indicated that the first attempt to get the cores and engines up and running was a success. Calyssa received felicitations of several members of the Callisto senior staff that were present but also from several key officers that were part of the Luna development project, including Commander Ghsalt. With a wide smile, she accepted their wishes of good fortune.

"Captain do you want to power the shield generators and phaser relays?" Lieutenant Hafwan was still working hard to get her brand new engine up to the specs she'd come to expect from Starfleet. Apparently she had decided to celebrate afterwards.

"Affirmative!" Calyssa shouted back so that the engineer who was still standing on the upper level could hear her. "The sooner we get systems powered up, the sooner we can head out!" She said. "Make sensor arrays, main and nagivational deflectors your priority, Lieutenant!" Calyssa said.

"Captain..." Admiral West snr. had found a way to enter engineering without getting noticed. A trait that he was well known for, realizing that in the years that she had known him, that he managed to pull something off like that quite often. "Congratulations on this new milestone. You are well away to your launch." Admiral West's grey mustache shone in the light coming from the ceiling. "Walk with me, Captain!"

Calyssa smiled and nodded in reply and followed the Admiral out of engineering, crossing her arms behind her back as soon as the doors closed behind her, following the slow pace that the Admiral kept.

"Now that this bridge has been crossed, it is time for us to get this ship launched, Calyssa!" Admiral West said all of a sudden, refraining from engaging in small talk.

"I couldn't agree more!" She smiled, eyeing the Admiral with her light blue eyes. "I've been itching to test her in deep space. I already was impressed by the way the Rhea impressed my back then but if Starfleet has kept improving, I wonder how she flies now." She added cheerfully.

"I am sure you are..." Admiral West sighed, obviously he was bothered by something and somehow Calyssa felt that it wasn't very good news.

"But I bet you didn't came here just to visit me." Calyssa tuned her enthusiasm down.

"You know me too well, Calyssa. I'll get right to it..." He said, sighing again as he took a right turn at the next intersection. "Chances are... that the Chozo project will be cancelled soon."

"Cancelled?" The news came somewhat as a bombshell and it was rather unexpected. It seemed that Starfleet had already invested so much effort and resources in the project that it sounded illogical, to use a Vulcan term, to stop now. "May I ask what the reason is why they might consider to pull the plug?"

"It seems that the higher ups in Starfleet find it more useful and tactical sound to invest resources and efforts in the Gamma Quadrant to counter the current Dominion threat. With the Gamma Quadrant cut off due to the closed wormhole, Starfleet is afraid that the current presence on the other side of the wormhole is endangered." He offered her a synopsis of the elaborate report he received this morning.

"With all due respect, Admiral..." Calyssa prepared to make a defense statement against it.

"Save your breath, Calyssa, I am on your side." He smiled again. "In order to convince Starfleet that the Chozo project is far from a waste, we need to present them with promissing results.

"And Daniel needs the Callisto back in action ASAP!" Calyssa filled in his blanks.

"Exactly!" West smiled. "When do you think you have the ship ready for launch?"

"Realistic or idealistic prognosis?" Calyssa chuckled. "I can have her up and running in three days, with the help of Ghsalt and his team.

"Take all the resources you need. I want her launched then in 72 hours from now!" Admiral West said, increasins his pace to the nearest turbolift.

"Consider it done!" She smiled, tapping her commbadge to inform her crew of the discussion she just had.

=/\= Aelyn to senior staff and Commander Ghsalt, report to the briefing lounge at once! =/\=

"Aye Captain." Jueta shot over her shoulder as she opened the software for intitial sensor intergration. The pace of the activity was begining to slow now that the pomp of the core start up was over. The extra bodies were begining to leave the engineering spaces and her people were focusing into the job at had.

As she started the program that would power every sensor on the ship she watched the power flow and heat dispersal it took only 75 seconds for the program to report all minimum levels achieved. The system began to self monitor just as it should. Pleased with the sensor monitoring Jueta shunted the active program to the main board, where to found it's place to the left hand side.

She turned to watch the core and reflect as things got into the proper rythem her people were at there staions finishing diagnostics and feeling out the new systems. Their former ship was only four year old, but it's design was based on thinking nearly 20 years old.

Not so with the new Callisto, this new class was holograhgically designed which gave a speed and openness to the design process that gave a level of finish and fit that was truely amazing. With things going so smoothly Jueta had time, more than she'd anticipated. This gave her time to think on other things.

She'd sat with Ryujin in the rercovery ward not disturbing her. For some reason she did not try to wake her or even speak to her. After an hour still wanting to be with her Jueta gave Ryujin a kiss and returned to her quarters, only saying "You know where to find me." as she exited.

Since that time the two had barely talked, things moving so fast around them. Jueta found herself unsure of how to proceed, rare and unnatural for her. She made a promise to herself to talk with Ryujin, today, things willing.

USS Callisto
Firing Range, Deck 11
1330 Hours, Day 26

Relli breathed slowly through her nose as she lined up the Marine assault rifle with the target, down range. Relli had found herself in the Callisto's firing range more often than not since getting on board six days ago. She hadn't been able to get in touch with her superiors quite yet ,not she'd made much of an effort technically she was still on leave for another day and she didn't want to gain a reputation as an overachieving, career climbing, caffeine nut. The higher-ups also seemed to be pretty occupied with getting the ship launched, and also didn't want to get in their way, and bring the wrath of powers that be down upon her head.

As she breathed out slowly she depressed lightly on the rifles trigger. A split second later a pulse of phaser fire erupted from the weapons "barrel" and zoomed down the range at incredible speeds. It slammed into the light red target, and dissipated against it anti-climatically. Relli knew that if rifles in the range were set at a realistic level it would left a carbon scoring mark at the least, or a fist sized hole in the wall at the highest. She sighed, pulling the rifle away from her shoulder and walking back over to the weapons rack and putting it back in.

"It's not like practicing is going to make me any better,"She muttered to herself as walked out of the range and into one of the Callisto's corridors.
"Maybe I should go practice my hand to hand skills,"She mused to herself as she continued walking down the corridor with no particular destination. Relli nearly laughed at the thought of her own hand to hand combat skills. She was horrible and she knew it, and ever attempt she'd made to get better at it had usually ended with her pinned to the floor by a holographic Klingon or Jem'hadar.

After mulling over what she wanted to do next/wandering around deck 11 pointlessly, Relli finally decided to head for the Quatorze lounge to get something to eat. After a quick turbo-lift ride she quickly found her way to the magnificent lounge that the Callisto sported.

Quatorze Lounge, Deck 14

Relli smiled as she entered the lounge, she was happy to hear the voices of other people after spending nearly an hour in solitude in the range. She quickly walked up to one of the replicators that dotted the wall near the bar.
"Hmm what am I in the mood for,"She pondered to herself, brushing a lock of dark brown hair from her face.
"Computer Kilm steak, and Papalla juice,"She ordered, watching it materialize on a dark gray trey. She picked it up and took it over to one of the tables on the lounges lower level, and near the large two deck tall windows. Taking a seat at the empty table, she looked out at the spectacular view of Mars that the lounge offered currently. Taking a bite out her steak, she looked around to see if anyone else wanted to sit with her...

the lounge was nearly empty as ryujin walked in. she had changed from her uniform into an aqua wrap. alpha shift had begun and it wasn't to surprising that there were only a few people there. taking a seat by herself at the farthest table, tucked between the wall and a row of windows. within minutes she was sipping a mixed drink, gazing out at the lounge. the red light of mars reflected on her eyes, giving them a scarlet hue.

tag- anyone up for a drink?

Marcus slowly came too as he blinked a bit. He looked around and went to sit up as his whole body hurt. He looked around a bit confused as a Doctor placed his hand on his chest.

"Try not to move we had some complications." Marcus narrowed his gaze as Fenna walked in and placed a gentle hand on his forehead.

"You'll be fine, just some recovery stuff." She smiled softly. He nodded as he trusted her. He looked over at the Doctor as he spoke.

"What type of complications Doc?" The doctor put up a screen pointing out the repaired shoulder areas. He then showed him all the other repairs he needed. Shaking his head slightly he pursed his lips.

"Ok you are telling me i have naanites running around my body still attacking and repairing things that i have no clue about?" The Doctor shook his head as he stopped and looked at the board.

"We attempted to override them, but the system for some reason rejected the removal process. The technicians think and are positive that there will be no repercussions of the naanites in your system. You might be a little more healthier than usual and injuries will heal a little faster than usual, but everything should be ok." The Doctor sees the agitation in Doug's face as he looked rather annoyed. He quickly dismisses himself and gets the heck out of dodge.

"Just great, well at least i can get out of here soon." He smiled at Fenna as he closed his eyes thinking about the Nannites left inside his system.

Off: Tag to anyone who wishes to see me on the ship when i return.

Captain's Log, supplemental

Though the news that the Chozo Expedition might be destined to live a short life, the news that we were to push for launch in three days has been received with great exhilaration by the Callisto crew, unlike the R&D team, who have greater difficulties accepting such a speed up of processes. However, Commander Ghsalt has reassured me that he'll do everything he can to make it happen. To ascertain that we are going to make this deadline, I have ordered double shifts around the clock so that we all put in our very best which is essential to make it work. Whatever happens the next few days remains to be seen, one thing is for sure though, we won't be getting much sleep.

Calyssa had been spending her time after the initialization of the warp core on the bridge, supervising the work of her bridge officers who were now tasked with getting their departments and stations up and running. Lieutenants Thal and Huxley seemed to have the most of work on their hands, having important departments that they needed to run. Every now and then, they brought the Captain and Colonel some reports from them to clear, allowing them to continue their work. With a Starfleet issue mug well clenched between her fingers, Calyssa made another tour along the bridge stations, trying not to let her presence interrupt with their work.

"How are the navigational deflectors?" She asked Torok who was in a trance like state of mind trying to get his station up and running.

"They are operating within standard parameters. I need to realign the lateral array for additional precision and after that the torc sensors require balancing." He said, not taking his eyes of his station. "It seems that I have my work cut out fo rme, Captain!" he faintly smiled.

"Well then. I will no longer interrupt you then!" She smiled and walked over to the tactical station to see how Thal was doing. It seemed that he appeared to be in a similar condition as Torok. "Report, Lieutenant!" She said, softly trying not to startle him.

"I having some minor problems with the internal sensors on decks 12 and 13. It seems that Callisto already has a mind of her own as she is not listening to the inputs I am giving her, but nothing to serious though. I just need to reprogram some minor algorithms." He briefly looked up with a faint smile planted on his Bolian face.

"It seems that you have matters under control..." Calyssa sighed, a bit bored.

"It appears so, Captain!" Hanson replied from her chair. "I suggest you take a break. You haven't been able to relax since you got up. As soon as there is something that requires your attention, I'll let you know, ma'am!" Hanson faintly smiled.

Calyssa nodded in agreement and headed for the turbolift. "Very well then. I could use some coffee!" She smiled, already looking forward to the prospect of drinking a hot and steamy cup of Nhorr's finest blends. She pressed the button announcing her desire to take a turbolift off the bridge and she awaited the computer to deliver the carriage to deck 1.

“You have the bridge, I’ll be back in… 45!” Calyssa said, stepping into the lift after it had arrived. The doors closed right behind her and she instructed the computer where she’d like to go. “Deck 14!”

The large doors opened as she approached them and as she walked into Quatorze Lounge she had a quick look around to see who was in. Then she walked up to the bar where Nhorr, the Caitian barkeep that looked fuzzier than a typical Cait already smiled awaiting her to place her order with one of his arms leaning against the bar, his tail flicking erratically.

“Captain…” He said with his usual tone. “What will it be for you this afternoon?” He said. The joyous tone of the Caitian had intrigued Calyssa ever since they had met a few weeks ago. Though he had something mysterious about him, she quite liked his company. “Well, I think that if I take another cup of Ktarian blend, Fenna needs to relieve me of command due to caffeine addiction. What do you have that is low on caffeine and still packs a punch?” She allowed the barkeep to pick a suitable drink for her. The barkeep smiled, showing his teeth that shone in the light. “I have just the right thing for you, Captain!” with that he walked away to the galley and took some minutes to prepare the Captain a nice surprise which he handed to her in a standard Starfleet issue mug. Without looking what was inside she turned around to have another look at who was present.

"Sure if you really want to,"Relli replied with a shrug of her shoulders. She didn't know what it was about the Romulan woman that struck the wrong nerve with her, but she was somewhat suspicious of her.She didn't say anything about it though, not wanting to offend someone she'd barely met. How did she know my name?,Relli thought watching the other woman take a seat, I don't think I've met her before..curious...

Relli picked up her fork and tore a chunk of the steak in front of her out, and took a bite. As she chewed she took a look around the lounge and noticed that it had filled up considerably since she'd entered. On the other side of the row of tables, behind the woman sitting with her, Relli noticed someone....well green, in a bluish wrap that went well with the skin tone sitting at the corner table on the far side.

As she turned to look back at the bar on the ground level Relli noticed the Captain at the bar. She had never met the Captain, but had seen a picture of her when she was doing some background research on the Callisto, before coming on board. What if she comes and sits with us?, Relli thought as she gulped down the bite of steak. Deciding that it didn't really matter thinking up what if scenarios, and that the Woman she'd just accepted at the table might think of it as rude if she suddenly tore off to go meet her Relli turned her attention back to the Romulan.
"If you don't mind me asking, would you mind telling me who I'm sitting with?,"Relli asked with a smile as took a sip of her Papalla juice.

Calyssa had been observing the group of junior officers seated behind one of the larger tables in the rear part or the lower level. She also noticed that the new Marine deputy detachment commander had arrived aboard. Odd, she thought, knowing that according to the approved transfer file, that she wouldn't be transfering in for another day or three. Perhaps she got here ahead of schedule so she could get settled and used to her new surroundings. She saw that she was enjoying a good piece of dead cow, though probably recognized. The sights of it made her stomach realize that she hadn't eaten since breakfast very early this morning. She could devour the remains of an entire animal right now. She sighed, decided to join them and walked over to them.

"Ladies..." She said softly, her mug still firmly clenched between the fingers of her right hand. Instantly, the two officers shot up to their feet to pay their respects to the Commanding Officer as proper Starfleet conduct dictated. No matter how often than happens, Calyssa just never got used to it, in fact it still made her quite uneasy. "Please, as you were..." Calyssa said with a nearly apologetic tone, backing off a little to give them some breathing room.

"Is the new chef any good?" Calyssa asked Lieutenant Oros with a smile, noticing that the Trill spots had a completely different pattern than the ones from Commander Darkka.
